Mission

The teachers and staff at Little Oak Preschool - Menlo Park are dedicated to fulfilling the academy’s mission:

To cultivate wisdom and respect in children from an early age, such that the love of learning and value of self and others continue to grow all throughout life.

Our Goals

  • To motivate interest in learning by encouraging new experiences

  • To help our children grow in all areas: emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially

  • To create a bond between home and school for each child

  • To enhance and support the development of friendships between a child’s peers

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is child-centered, providing experiences to enhance a child’s natural development. Each week our children explore a new theme in the areas of art, music, science, cooking, nutrition, socialization, critical thinking, community, multicultural awareness, and language arts skills. Additionally, our 3’s and Pre-K classrooms visit our Library and STEAM classroom each week.

Our Kindergarten Readiness Program is implemented in our Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and was created to better prepare our students for their entry into kindergarten. Our Pre-K students experience many different areas of social interaction, group orientation and academic preparation through age-specific lesson plans.

Our Teachers

At Little Oak, we believe our greatest strength lies in the talents and skills of our staff. Our teachers are highly educated and have deep expertise in early childhood education and preschool curriculum, but most importantly, they are attentive, warm, and nurturing. They just love children and are passionate about what they do, every day.

Our teachers appreciate that each child has unique strengths, interests, needs, and learning styles. Teachers actively engage with children in child-directed play, care-giving, and teacher-inspired activities within a predictable and stable daily schedule. They are intentional and authentic. The trust that is developed between child and teacher provides the support that is needed for each child to reach their highest potential: It enables them to discover their interests, fully explore their intrinsic curiosity and creativity, and develop self-confidence, independence, and satisfying peer relationships.

Our Families

We strongly encourage our parents to volunteer, and welcome them to participate in their child’s school experience. There are so many different ways to be involved, and we are always excited when parents bring their own unique offerings to our general program or their child’s specific classroom.
